Description

As wool testing devices are designed and programmed for testing wool from sheep, the testing of alpaca and goat fibre needs to account for the very low levels/absence of lanolin compared to sheep’s wool. Further, we need to adjust for the differences in fibre type and diameter variation compared to sheep’s wool. All this means extra time taken for sample preparation and device settings.

Important notice re customs charges
As irish Customs have been charging unreasonable VAT amounts where it has been declared that fibre samples have a commercial value of even just one euro, we suggest you insert ‘no commercial value’ on any customs declarations and/or not declare them as ‘commercial samples’. The samples in fact will be disposed of after testing.

* Certified alpaca tests comply with all operating procedures and protocols developed specifically for objective measurement of huacaya and suri fibre samples. Art Of Fibre will provide a Certificate of Compliance if required.

**For goat fibres, Art Of Fibre recommends an alpaca fibre test, however, we regret no certificate of compliance can be provided for goat fibre testing.

*** Our testing is subject to stringent Quality Assurance program

****We use the latest OFDA (‘along fibre’) measurement technology
